2010 MLB Betting: The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to gain a game in the standings on the San Diego Padres when the teams conclude their three-game series at Petco Park in one of the MLB Network’s Thursday Night baseball betting broadcasts.
The Padres bounced back from getting shutout in the series opener by scoring the 6-1 home victory last night. Lefty Clayton Richard secured his eighth win of the season by allowing just four hits and an earned run while K’ing six through his six innings of work. Jerry Hairston Jr. had a big game for manager Bud Black’s squad raking a pair of hits while knocking in three RBIs and scoring a run.
The victory improved the Padres to 59-40 on the year to put upwards of $2300 in MLB bettors pockets throughout the 2010 season; San Diego has proven to be by far the best MLB wager in the league this year! They’ve tallied victories in eight of their 11 games played since the All Star Break.
They carry a 2.5-game lead over the San Francisco Giants for the top spot in the NL West heading into tonight’s series finale.
The Dodgers got out to a very rough start to the second half of their season dropping each of their first six games to the Cardinals and Giants, but they had rebounded nicely over the last week winning five of six before falling last night. He’s failed to tally a victory in each of his starts since the break, but the righty has pitched well enough during that stretch to come out victorious in both outings. In 13 combined IP vs. the Cardinals and Mets, Padilla allowed a total of just seven hits and one ER while K’ing seven and walking five. The Dodgers managed to score a total of five runs in both outings.
Los Angeles has won only one of his six 2010 road starts this baseball betting season. He hasn’t stared back at the Padres offense since 2006, and carries a 1-1 mark with a 3.67 ERA & 1.49 WHIP in seven lifetime starts vs. SD.
Looking to secure his fourth straight victory and 10th in his L/13 overall starts will be righty Mat Latos who enters his 19th start of the season 11-4 with a 2.48 ERA & phenomenal 0.99 WHIP. He currently ranks third on the list of top starter $$$ for 2010 MLB bettors.
He toyed with the Pittsburgh Pirates his last time out limiting the Buccos to seven hits and two ER’s while K’ing seven through a carefree six innings of work. The outing was his first since going on the 15 day DL.
San Diego has won each of his L/7 overall starts, but he was roughed up in his lone career start against the Dodgers last season allowing four runs (2 ER) while walking five through just three IP.
The Dodgers have held the upper hand in the 2010 baseball betting series with the Padres winning five of the seven overall confrontations. They also stand 4-1 their L/5 trips to Petco Park.
