This week the world's greatest hot dog heavyweights go head-to-head and hand-to-mouth in Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, and at BetCRIS Sportsbook, you can wager on the out-right winner as well as the total number of hot dogs eaten by the winner.
BetCRIS Sportsbook betting odds makers currently favor Californian Joey "Jaws" Chestnut over Japanese master Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi with the over/under for total hot dogs eaten by the winner at 68.5 dogs, a total that would be in world record territory.
"This hot dog eating competition is no county fair side show," said Esteban Siles, spokesman for BetCRIS Sportsbook. "Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is to the hot dog eating world what The Masters is to the golf world - you've got the best talent in the world sitting at the table here."
Chestnut is the Nathan's defending champion, having won Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2007 by beating Kobayashi by polishing off 66 dogs and buns in 12 minutes, setting a new world record. At the time of that defeat, Kobayashi was the six-time defending Nathan's champion. Kobayashi is recovering from a serious jaw injury he sustained last year in a training accident.
Just how much that injury will affect the rivalry between these speed eating professionals has yet to be seen. Odds makers at BetCRIS Sportsbook have offered up the following wagering odds on the hot dog eating action:
Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest
(Chestnut or Kobayashi must participate; contest must exceed 12 minutes for action)
Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Winner - Pick Winner
